Betty Boop's Fishing Corner

I pray that I may live to fish,

until my dying day....

And when it comes to my last cast,

then I must humbly pray:

When in the Lord's great landing net

I lay peacefully asleep...

That in His mercy I be judged...

BIG enough to keep!

~ Auther Unknown

Please take a tour with me of our fishing ventures here in the Panama City area. I've only been fishing now for three and a half years. One year was fresh water fishing with limited salt water fishing. The passed two and one-half years have been all salt water fishing due mostly because we live so close to the beach and it doesn't require a fishing license for Florida residence who fish from land. You don't need a license when going on a party boat for deep sea fishing either.

This is my fishing philosophy: 'Look what I got' and I just keep reeling them in.

This is my husband, Bob's philosophy on fishing - but not all the time...NOT IN 2002!! JUST LOOK BELOW.

This is Bob's reward for months of patiently waiting for a nice catch after months of bad fishing or no fishing. It proved to be a really nice deep sea fishing trip right before his birthday in 2002.

Here Bob is with all of our fish we caught that day. I had only one keeper red snapper (behind the trigger fish).

Caught just in time for dinner. 2001 was a good year for us as far as catching spanish mackeral. We haven't eaten a single one in 2002. Just like the lottery: you have to play to win. As you can tell, I dressed well for the occasion  :)

We've caught grey snapper in the bay near the ocean as well as at the Deerpoint Dam that empties into the salty bay.

One of my proudest moments: I caught this blue bonita on our first deep sea fishing trip in Aug. 2000. It is the biggest fish I ever caught & tired me out alot.

'Sailcat'/saltwater catfish caught at Panama City Beach off the pier in 2001.

My first shark (one of two - gave the second one away) which we had for dinner. It was easy to prepare and was very delicious! Summer 2001

My first spade fish in 2001. They look like angel fish and some people mistake them for those.

I wish that I could say that Bob caught this king mackeral...but then THAT WOULD BE A FISH TALE! Someone actually gave that to him when he was fishing at the marina. Some one WITH A BOAT I might add.

That's my hubby next to one of several deep sea fishing boats owned by Capt. Anderson.

A GREAT FISHING DAY TO REMEMBER! This was the first time Bob & I caught spanish mackeral in the beginning of April 2001. They were making their spring run in the Gulf. I'm proud to say I caught 5 of them!

Bob was proud too of our catch. He's showing his famous 'Tom Seleck' smile.
